The SuperSlow® Story

Few people in a lifetime have the opportunity to revolutionize and evolve an industry. Ken Hutchins achieved just that when he created the groundbreaking SuperSlow® Strength Training method in 1982. Since its inception, SuperSlow has received worldwide acclaim as the model program for definitive strength enhancement, improved general health, and essential to assuring true fat loss. Additionally, SuperSlow is considered the ideal protocol for physical therapy rehabilitation, better known as SuperSlow Rehab. Mr. Hutchins’ career began in the late 1970s while working for Arthur Jones, the founder of Nautilus®. In 1982 Mr. Hutchins, along with his wife Brenda, were selected to administer exercise to women impaneled in a Nautilus-funded Osteoporosis research at the University of Florida. The only real breakthrough discovery from this research project was the creation of SuperSlow—forever altering the exercise methodology of mainstream Health and Fitness professionals. Ten years later, Mr. Hutchins developed the SuperSlow Exercise Guild to certify qualified instructors. These professional instructors administer proper SuperSlow exercise protocol, and the execution of principles and standards that vary from the conventional fitness industry doctrines.

The SuperSlow Exercise Protocol is an intense, efficient, and effective workout for the general exerciser. The workout is achieved under the direct supervision of a certified instructor on specialized, state-of-the-art equipment. The cornerstone of SuperSlow is an approximate 20-second cycle of each repetition from the beginning to the start of the next repetition. The weight is lifted in 10 seconds and lowered in 10 seconds coupled with a smooth turnaround technique at either end. This method truly embodies the definition of complete exercise by properly and safely building muscle and increasing the resting metabolism, allowing the body to burn more calories even while at rest.

As a result of the overwhelming response from health and fitness facilities, physicians, and SuperSlow practitioners, Mr. Hutchins created a Master Certification Program, appointing only the highest caliber instructors, with the authority to certify “Level One SuperSlow Instructors.” Dozens of respected national and international publications have acknowledged SuperSlow as the definitive exercise protocol—advancing the evolution of the strength and fitness training industry today and for tomorrow.
